The Grand success of “Pune Everest 2012”, “Lhotse-Everest 2013” and “Makalu 2014” expeditions has given a distinct face to Giripremi in the field of Mountaineering Sports. We take pride in stating that, today Giripremi is the only civilian club in India, who has 11 Mountaineers who have climbed Mt. Everest and 1 Mountaineer who has climbed Mt. Lhotse & Mt. Makalu. After successful expeditions to Three Eight- Thousand meter high mountains for three consecutive years, now we would like to take one step further in scaling newer heights.
“Dhaulagiri-Cho Oyu - 2016” is going to be the next milestone in our journey of scaling high mountains. Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) are the world’s 6th & 7th highest mountains respectively situated in Nepal. Like earlier expeditions, “Dhaulagiri-Cho Oyu - 2016” is going to be the first civilian joint expedition from India to “Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Cho Oyu”. The period of expedition would be April – May 2016. Once again, a team of highly skilled, experienced and devoted mountaineers is ready to attempt this challenging feat. Giripremi also has a strong foundation of support team to look after the administrative front of the expedition. The estimated budget of the expedition is INR 90 lakh, for the team of 7 climbing and 2 support members. We are confident that we would be able to raise the required funds from the society but it is going to be the biggest challenge for all of us.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
