Some stories serve as an inspiration to anyone who hears them, everyone has something to learn from them. These are stories of exemplary courage and determination that deserve to be told. Giripremi's program at Balgandharva was significant on this account. The event marked the release of the thrilling short film on the Everest-Lhotse Expedition 2013 and the launch of the book 'Everest- Goshta Eka Dhyasachi' : an account of the record largest civilian expedition to the summit of Mt. Everest.
Saturday, 4th October, Balgandharva was jam packed with well-wishers and supporters of Giripremi. Esteemed guests from the field of mountaineering and other streams supporting Giripremi graced the occasion. Wangchu Sherpa of Peak Promotions, Anand Awadhani from Samakaleen Publication being a few of them.
Mr. Umesh Zirpe had been a part of the Pune-Everest and Everest-Lhotse Expedition since it was nothing more than an ambitious idea. Being one of the architects and the leader of these expeditions, no one has perhaps experienced it like he has. He, evidently, had to be the one to tell this amazingly inspiring story. Working with Samakaleen Publication and along with the entire team of Pune -Everest 2012, he has put forth, what could aptly be described as a mountaineering thriller! - an insight into everything that goes behind making such a difficult aspiration, a reality. The book was published at the hands of renowned Sports Psychologist Shri. Bhishmaraj Baam and he also addressed the audience on the occasion.
Another highlight of the program was the screening of the thrilling Everest-Lhotse short film. The DVD was launched by Hon. Col. H. S. Chauhan, President, IMF Delhi. The screening that followed left the audience amazed, teary-eyed and proud, all at once. The film was directed by the acclaimed director Mr. Kiran Yadnyopavit. He also took a moment to share his experience of making the film.
The relentless efforts of the team and the love and support of all our well-wishers was what made the expeditions and the event such a huge success. And as long as we have your support, Giripremi would continue to attempt still more daring challenges in future.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
