With a vision of delivering a holistic outdoor education through adventure sports and environmental awareness; Guardian Corporation and Giripremi Mountaineering Club have launched a first of its kind mountaineering institute at Mulshi, near Pune under the name Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM), which is a place for everyone who wish to learn various outdoor skills and be a competent leader of the wilderness. In the special event that took place at Karnataka Highschool Auditorium on 24th Jan 2015 chief guest of the function, India’s ace Boxer and Arjun Awardee Ms. Laishram Sarita Devi officially announced the launch of GGIM.
The institute has core training areas such as Mountaineering Skills and Techniques, Leadership, Environmental Ethics, Disaster Management and First Aid etc. In GGIM safety is of paramount importance and it will be equipped with a state of the art infrastructure for providing special courses for all. In GGIM, school going children in the age group of 10-16 will be a core group. At the same time training for other age group and categories like corporate is also included in the listlist. We have a wonderful mountaineering culture but what we are lacking is a platform which will cultivate technically sound and knowledgeable mountaineers. GGIM is the place which will fill up this gap.
The institute is being built in the scenic backdrop of Mulshi Dam and Sahyadri ranges at Mulshi, 40 kms from Pune. The infrastructure of GGIM is uniquely designed, integrating the abundant natural beauty by renowned architect Mr. Subhash Takale. On this historic occasion logo of the institute was unveiled and a dedicated website also was launched at the auspicious hands of the dignitaries. A spectacular audio -visual presentation explaining credentials of Guardian Corporation and Giripremi as well as detailing GGIM spellbound the audience.
During the launch ceremony, initially Guardian Corp. CMD Mr. Manish Sabade ( Director GGIM ) welcomed all and highlighted the association of his venture with Giripremi. Mr. Umesh Zirpe ( Director GGIM ), leader of Giripremi’s Everest, Lhotse, Makalu expedition spoke about the concept and vision of establishing this institute. Then special guest Mr.Suresh Haware, MD Haware group, Mrs. Ushaprabha Page, one of the founding members of Giripremi, Well known mountaineer from Mumbai Mr. Rishikesh yadav, Mrs.Nalini Sengupta,Principal- Vidya Valley School expressed their views on outdoor education. While the Chairperson of the event, veteran mountaineer N.K. Mahajan expressed his views on the need of a mountaineering institute. Well known dignitaries from various fields attended the function.
In the end Mr. Vijay Joshi ( Director GGIM ) and Director Cubix Microsystems also shared his thoughts and thanked one and all who graced the occasion by their presence. Mr. Bhushan Harshe coordinated the function.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
