Mt. Shivling Expedition

Our expedition consists of twelve members with five High altitude porters. Our team left Pune on 12th May 2007. We stayed for 5 days in Uttarkashi for food purchase, hiring equipment and porter arrangement. We shifted to Tapovan on 22nd May 2007 and established our base camp. Next three days we all did load ferry to ABC. From Tapovan we climbed the moraine besides baby Shivling, through a col we reached to a lateral moraine of Meru glacier. At the end of this lateral moraine ridge we decided to establish ABC at 15,500ft. For fast movement in the mountain we decided to divide the team in two groups 'Team A' and 'Team B'. 'Team A' will open the route with HAP's and member of 'Team B' would support 'Team A' by ferrying the loads from lower camps.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
