Introductory Workshop on High Altitude Trekking

Greetings from Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering !!

As you know, the Himalayan trekking season is approaching and many of you have already booked your travels to your favorite destinations. Most of us who are trekking consistently in Sahyadri ranges or even those who have been to altitudes already know that trekking at altitudes is not exactly same as trekking at sea level. There are certain things which one should consider before going to High Altitudes. There are some basic questions in every trekkers mind like What are the medical precautions I need to take ? or What are the special equipments required for altitudes? or How should we prepare for the trek ? and many more.

Many of us prefer to have ‘Google Assistance’ in such cases, many go with the past experience of self or of friends.But there could be another way to get these questions answered authentically. Yes!! GGIM brings to you an Introductory workshop regarding the High Altitude Trekking.

  1. Hi. My name is Rucha Inamdar. I am from Pune. I am really interested in the position of trek leader. I have done Himalayan treks before, the recent one was Kedartal trek ( 16000 ft.) and also have experience in managing a group of people as I am a dance teacher as well.Please let me know if you have any requirement of a trek leader and assisting a trek leader.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
