Invitation for Flag Off ceremony of Giripremi's Himalayan expeditions in 2015 on Everest Day - 29th May

29th May 1953. A golden day in mountaineering fraternity when humans for the first time reached to the third pole of the world. Whole world celebrates this day as ‘Everest Day’

This year 2015, marks one of the significant milestones in mountaineering society. This year is a 100th birth anniversary of Sherpa Tenzing, who for the first time, along with Sir Edmond Hillary reached on top of the world. This year will be remembered also as the Golden Jubilee year of India’s first successful Military Expedition to Mt. Everest.

With these dual occasions, on the occasion of this Everest Day, Giripremi has organized a special programme at Balgandharva Rangamandir, on 29th May 2015 at 6:30 PM.

The programme will begin with offering the condolences to all earthquake struck people in Nepal followed by a presentation of a short film on Giripremi’s Rescue and Relief Operation in Nepal during 29th April to 9th May.

There will be launch of outdoor and adventure educational programme ‘Avhaan’ for youth. Giripremi has been running this special educational initiative for the agegroup of 10 to 16 years for past 10 years. Henceforth, this programme shall be run by Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM); details of which will be presented during the event.

Dr.Jagvir Singh, Scientist F/ Director, Ministry of Earth Science, New Delhi, Shri. Omprakash Bakoria, (I.A.S.) Additional Commissioner, PMC and Shri. Sudhakar Nagnure, Jt. Director, Town Planning Dept. Maharashtra will grace the occasion as Honourable Guests. Also they will speak about the importance of Disaster Management Training and adventure Education for youth.

Giripremi has planned two expeditions in the month of June, Mt. Indrasan (6221m) and unclimbed mountain ‘Peak-5260’ (Both in Himachal Pradesh) under the leadership of Bhushan Harshe and Anand Mali respectively will be flagged off at the hands of honourable guests.

The function will conclude with the short film of First Successful Indian expedition to Mt. Everest in 1965.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame. Generally, an expedition continues for several days and sometime months. All these factors impose a burden off high costs on this sport.
