PadmashreeBachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Mt. Everest, recently visited Giripremi’soffice on the occasion of commencement of Giripremi’s twin expeditions to ‘Mt. Indrasan’ and ‘Peak 5260’. The expedition teams under the leadership of BhushanHarshe and Anand Mali left Pune on 12th June. Addressing a group of mountaineers gathered on this occasion she said, “I am excited to see the enthusiasm and achievements of mountaineering from Pune city. The support from parents to encourage the children for mountaineering is admirable. All my best wishes to both the expedition team members and future mountaineering endeavors of Giripremi.”
Giripremi founder member Smt. Ushaprabha Page, President AnandPalande and leader of Pune Everest 2012 expedition Mr. UmeshZirpe briefed Ms. Bachendri Pal about the Giripremi organization and its activities. She took note of the Giripremi’s past mountaineering expeditions, its rescue and relief work in different natural calamities, initiatives for young mountaineers and the recently formed ‘Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering’.
Afterwards the expedition team members left for Delhi. Mt. Indrasan (6221M) expedition will be led by Everester Bhushan Harshe whose team consists of experienced climbers, Everester Ganesh More, Mr. Akshay Patke and Dr. Sumit Mhandale. While Pk 5260 will be led by EveresterAnand Mali and the team consists of young aspiring mountaineers Mr. Kiran Salastekar, Mr.BhushanShet, Mr. Pawan Hadole, Mr. Sanket Dhotre, Mr. Dinesh Kotkar and Mr. Aniket Kulkarni. This dual expedition will be conducted under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Zirpe.
On this occasion a specially designed Solar Power Generator developed by Mr. Santosh Lalwani Chairman of Ren-en-gen solutions Pvt. ltd. was handed over to the team.
The expedition teams reached Manali on 14th June and are busy with the final preparations before getting into the mountains. Both the teams will start on 17th June towards roadhead of the expedition, Chatru, place in Lahaul-Spiti Valley. Afterwards they will trek towards the base camp of the expeditions which is located at Shiyaguru(4000M) in PirPanjal range of Himalaya.

Mountaineering is an extreme sport. It's play grounds are far from the civilization. It demands high quality equipment for safety and survival. It's probably the sport which has longest time frame.
